Is Your Smartphone Watching You
Australian security experts, consumer advocates and privacy campaigners have sounded the alarm over the hundreds of thousands of free smartphone applications that spy on their users.
Lookout, a smartphone security firm based in San Francisco, scanned nearly 300,000 free applications for Apple’s iPhone and phones built around Google’s Android software. It found that many of them secretly pull sensitive data off users’ phones and ship them off to third parties without notification. Read the story »
Apple Plans iPhone 4 Conference

Concerns over the iPhone Perfomance
We at techreview have not had a bad word to say about the apple iPhone, we like many other Australian’s have been wearing apple tinted glasses every since its release in 2007, so much so that we failed to pay real attention to other smart phones brands and their development. Alienware M11x (Core i7)
If you have Alienware’s reputation, morphing an 11-inch laptop into a mighty gaming rig is easier than it looks. The Alienware M11x (Core i7) ($1,175 direct) is literally the size of a netbook, except it’s outfitted in Alienware’s signature stealth armor and adorned with color-changing LEDs. This second iteration of the Alienware M11x line has been updated with a low-voltage Intel Core i7 processor (from a Core 2 Duo) and Nvidia’s Optimus switching graphics technology. More important, the laptop’s powerful Nvidia gaming card breezed through all our gaming tests, while costing a fraction of what would pay for an adult-sized Alienware laptop. Though it won’t replace bigger, hardcore gaming rigs, the M11x is a perfect fit for competitive road-gamers.
Apple MacBook Pro (Core i5) Review
At last there is a MacBook with an powerful intel chip. The new Apple MacBook Pro 15-inch brings you stylish looks whiles also packing a punch. For those Mac fans who have been waiting for the updated MacBook Pro line, the wait is over. Given that the company just launched what probably is the hottest product of the year in the iPad, followed by a slew of compelling iPhone OS updates a couple of days later, a delayed Intel refresh on the laptops was completely understandable. Dell Ultrasharp U2711

The last time I reviewed one of Dell’s UltraSharp monitors, the 2408WFP ($689.00 Direct, ), I was wowed by its solid performance and robust feature set. Despite the relatively high price, it merited an Editors’ Choice award. So it was with great anticipation that I popped open the box containing the Dell UltraSharp U2711 (1,099 direct) that recently arrived on my doorstep. And once again, I am impressed. This versatile 27-inch monitor delivers deep, rich colors and offers a multitude of input options. It also does good job of displaying fast action video. It isn’t exactly cheap, but the good news is, you’ll get what you pay for, which is why it earns our Editors’ Choice award. Read the story »
