Google launches internet browser - chrome

google smlGoogle is launching an open source web browser to compete with Internet Explorer and Firefox.

The browser is designed to be lightweight and fast, and to cope with the next generation of web applications that rely on graphics and multimedia.

Called Chrome, it will launch as a beta for Windows machines in 100 countries, with Mac and Linux versions to come. Read more

The number of victims and the amount defrauded is down and, most important, it takes less time to clean up the mess. According to a Javelin Strategy & Research survey, as reported by the Privacy Rights Clearinghouse, the number of identity theft victims per year in the U.S. fell by nearly 2 million from 2003 (10.1 million) to 2007 (8.4 million); and the mean time required to undo the damage in each instance was down from 40 hours in 2006 to 25 in 2007. Warez software pirate sentenced to probation

LaptopU.S. federal authorities sentenced a prolific illegal trader of software to three years of probation on Thursday, according to the Department of Justice.

Robert Hardick of Gretzville, New York, could have faced up to five years in prison had he gone to trial. Instead, he agreed to plead guilty to one count of conspiracy in U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut in exchange for a lighter sentence.
