Dell Computers to be Sold in Dick Smith’s

Dell Computers in your local electronics shop, well the answer is yes. It’s been reported that the US computer giant company will start selling its computers in Dick Smith stores.

EXACTLY one year ago, Dell marked its entry into the Australian retail market with Officeworks jumping onboard to start selling its computers and laptops.Today, Dell extended that reach with the addition of Dick Smith. With its three retailer partners combined, the total tally of local outlets selling Dell equipment comes to over 260.

Dick Smith will sell a slew of products including Dell desktops and laptops from May 6 in 70 stores initially.

The Good Guys began selling a range of Dell desktops and notebooks last December.

“We are committed to providing our customers with the latest technology and leading brands in all categories,” said Dick Smith buying and merchandising head Glenn O’Neill.

“Dell’s products complement our PC and laptop range, enabling us to provide our customers with a wide range of solutions to meet their technology needs,” Mr O’Neill said.

Dell started its business as an internet pure-play but over the years has branched out into different sales channels such as kiosks at shopping centres. After spending many months trying to convince retailers to form a partnership, Officeworks said yes.

In Australia, for example, the company operates 18 kiosks in New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Victoria and West Australia.
