Dell move on the Service Sector

dell logoIt has been reported that Dell Australia are to  improve their services credentials

DELL Australia will sharply spruik they’re services credential subsequently closing 2008 with three new incorporated and governing clients. Dell Asia-Pacific and Japan chairman Steve Felice said the company was preparing for a big year in services, beyond its staple of desktops and laptop computer.“We have experienced five to six big gains and Dell Services is acquiring an entry point into major accounts,” he said. “We certainly expect this part of the business to keep growing.”

Building, excavation and heavy equipment manufacturer Komatsu Australia exploited Dell Services to formulate a managed services desk to accomplish its destination of travelling toward an Information Technology Infrastructure Library framework.

Komatsu IT general manager Ian Harvison said the company required better visibility of what business functions its technology department was supporting and the infrastructure being used across its Australia-New Zealand business.

The managed services desk lets in a portal to allow improved visibleness to Komatsu employees across 50 sites as hardware and software procurement.

As a result, Mr Harvison expected procurement requests to be reduced by 80 per cent.

ING-owned Oasis Asset Management also contracted Dell Services to redesign its information center. Adelaide City Council was another customer.

Mr Felice said the wins were proof that Dell was more than a consumer company.

Dell and its rivals will be clamoring for government activity and business in light of the latest economical slump, because the public sector still holds money to spend.

Examples include the national broadband electronic network, to which the federal Government has allocated up to $4.7 billion, and $2 billion to revamp the national education system.
